the Class I teach a bio-mechanically based ballet
technique that develops the body’s natural strategies for
generating stable movement, rather than using tension or muscle
holding. Sound but dynamic alignment is the key to dancing in a
way that actually improves joint health, and keeps muscles strong
and elastic. Dancers make lasting and rapid improvement to their
technique and become less prone to injury by learning to embody
their anatomy with science-based imagery that improves physical
awareness, proprioception and consequently their body’s function.
In order to create a positive, inquisitive and highly focused learning
environment, I honor each student’s physical individuality
and unique learning process. Over the course of a 20 year professional
dance career I was continually researching ways to improve my flexibility
and longevity and concluded that tension was the enemy of both.
Building on my thorough Royal Academy of Dance training, the Franklin
Method (Eric Franklin) gave me the tools and scientific validation
to hone my philosophy and communicate it to my students. Other formative
influences or mentors include Tania Lichine, Maggie Black and Bonnie
Carol Guidry brings a rich and varied performance

in Germany for eight years with the Heidelberg City Ballet and the
Gelsenkirchner Musiktheater im Revier where she also set several
pieces of her choreography. Upon returning to the U.S., Ms. Guidry
