Ballet (intermediate
level)

with Elizabeth Terschuur
class
time: Mondays 10:00-11:30AM
Introductory cost $12 per class
about class: Ms. Terschuur's
ballet classes all focus on dynamic alignment through the spine
in relationship to the greater kinesphere of energy use and patterning
via visualization cuing. One could describe her classes as traditional
ballet through a contemporary lens drawing influences from her mentor
Roudolf Kharatian, as well as Mary Day, Pat Berrend, Victoria Leigh,
Septime Webre, William Forsythe, and Jirąí Kylián.
Her post-modern training from UCLA provides a unique locus from
which to explore the tradition of ballet and its conventions to
prepare students for the multi-disciplinary demands of today’s
choreographers and companies. The class will be spent moving through
traditional ballet patterns and combinations with a focus on healthy
placement as well as utilizing syncopation and rapid weight shifting
within traditional ballet vocabulary and combinations.
